Mark Wienand

Bass

Instrumentalist by Day, vocalist by night, Mark has been involved in music since he was old enough to sit up. His grandmother was an Opera singer and shared her gifts and “pointers” graciously. At the age 3, he heard a siren go by the house. He ran to the piano and started improvising a song to the siren’s wail. His grandmother next words, “get that boy in music lessons” were prophetic. Mark’s musical journey continued all through school. Merging Mark’s two passions in university, science and music. A brief stint at pre-med, however the real two passions that have overtaken his career are between instrumental music and singing. Whether in Drum Corps International with The Cavaliers, winning the World Championship, playing horn in the US Army band, singing in St. Petersburg, Russia Conservatory Choir with the Grand Rapids Chamber Singers on a US tour, Mark knew his destiny was in sharing music. While completing a Master’s in Music Education, he sang in Windy City Gay Chorus, and was a founding member of the Allegrezza Chorus. Performing in Carnegie Hall, Symphony Center and shortly after moving to Palm Springs singing in the Walt Disney Concert Hall. Mark currently passes on his love to his students as the Band Director at Desert Springs Middle School. He has sung with Palm Springs Gay Men’s Chorus and conducted their small ensemble, The Arrangement. He currently sings with Modern Men: Coachella Valley Men’s Chorus. Mark joined A Cabbello when he received the call. What call you ask? The call to sing as many LOW notes as he can with the group. Its all about that Bass!
